Everyone has one - the mystery drawer with gizmos and gadgets like the strange thing-a-ma-bobs inherited from your grandmother’s kitchen, the odd doodad that you bought at a yard sale, or the weird whatchamacallit you’ve been using as a hammer for years. On a whim, I gathered some of these items out of the drawer in our own kitchen. I even found an “inside-the-egg” egg beater! We would love to hear your ideas on what some of these hoohaws might be!

I'll go with ...
1. Bottle Opener
2. Oyster Shucker ?
3. Whisk
4. I’ve actually seen these marked as both a garlic press and a citrus reamer
5. Garlic Press ?
First of all, these are AWESOME!!!!!! These are so cool. Here are my guesses (bear with me):
1. Pancake maker
2. Shoe horn
3. Magic wand
4. Scrapbooking scissors
5. Husband punisher
I'm kidding. I have no idea (obviously), but I bet they would make great conversation starters!
Great guesses - keep them coming! #5 is actually the doodad I used as a hammer for years and is the hardest one to guess! And, I have an adorable picture of my son using #3 as a magic wand when he was 3 years old.
1. Zester for lemon curls
2. Fish Scaler
3. Egg Whisk
4. Looks like a bottle opener
5. Lemon Squeezer (not a hammer)
#2 is for certain a fish scaler
#3 is for eggs, but I wouldn't call it a whisk, even though you probably could use it that way. It was intended to work like a spring, holding it vertically in the bowl and pushing it up and down.
When my mother passed away, I took the gadgets (#2 & #3) never knowing how to use them and for what. Well, now, 15 yrs later, I know. Thanks!
Nobody guessed No. 5 correctly! It is a 1940's ice cube crusher for mixed drinks, and was the must-have item in barware back in the day.
